This bird is referred to as the "Flower Hen" in Sweden, because its spots look like flowers. It is the largest of the Swedish breeds and comes from the south of Skåne.
A very calm, unagressive and robust bird, it was developed long ago in the south of Sweden. Good layers, Blommehöns weigh between 5 and 8 1/2 pounds (2 to 3.5 kilos). Occasionally, a hen will show a small crest or tuft of feathers behind her comb.
