These pretty little birds are found in northern and eastern Australia, and in some of the islands west of New Guinea. They stick to wooded areas and even when frightened do not fly above the canopy.
When feeding they move about in the trees in an almost parrot-like fashion.
In New South Wales the breeding season extends from mid-October to March. They lay one white egg in a typical pigeon nest.
