Long Tails

Various longtailed fowl exist worldwide. These birds (except for the Kuro Gashiwa) are all descended from Japanese stock.

I have been able to get information and images on various breeds. These are:

Jangmigye
Jitokko
Kuro Gashiwa
Minohiki
Ohiki
Onagadori
Phoenix
Satsumadori
Shokoku
Tomaru
Totenko
Yokohama

Longtail book:

Long Tailed Fowl: Their History and Care by David Rogers and Toni-Marie Astin, 2007, 84 pp., available from onagadori_south@msn.com, ISBN: 1574724142.

This book is just what its title says. A must have for anyone keeping long-tailed fowl.

A nice picture of an Onagadori on a page about Japanese fighting dogs . . . but don't believe the statement about it being a pheasant--chicken cross.

This is a picture of a Kureko or Kurekodori rooster -- I'm assuming from the picture that it's one of the Japanese breeds of Longtails
